Discuss how fires can start and develop, recognise familiar hazards and consider the precautions used at your site.
Work through the responsibilities you assign, how concerns are reported and how wardens fit into your wider fire safety arrangements.
Explore the actions in your emergency plan, communication, escape routes and assembly arrangements using relevant scenarios.
Look at the things wardens may be asked to notice, such as obstructed escape routes, fire doors, signs and concerns that need reporting.
Discuss extinguisher types, their limitations and the circumstances in which attempting to tackle a fire would be unsafe.
Use agreed exercises to bring the role to life. Where suitable, practical extinguisher activity can form part of the course.
We want people to think about what the role means in their own workplace. That might involve discussing an evacuation scenario, looking at familiar escape routes or working through the observations they would report during everyday checks.
We agree practical activities with you in advance. Extinguisher practice depends on suitable facilities, equipment, conditions and the agreed course scope. The quotation will make clear what is included.
This course supports the role you give your wardens. It does not replace your fire risk assessment, emergency plan, equipment maintenance or site-specific instruction.
Tell us about your buildings, work activities, shift patterns and approximate numbers. We will discuss the responsibilities you assign to wardens, the procedures you want covered and the space available for learning and practical activities.
Have your relevant fire safety arrangements available for the planning discussion. We will agree any access to practical areas and any support needed for people to take part. Please avoid sending individual medical details in your initial enquiry.
